Promises of God: 5 Promises God Wants You to Hear Today

July 19, 2023 4 min read

As we go through life, we often face different challenges and difficulties that can make us feel lost or alone. During these moments, it's good to think about the Promises of God, as He has said He will stay by our side and lead us through life's storms. Here are 5 promises that God wants you to hear today.

1. God's Promise of Protection - Psalm 91:2

The first promise God wants you to hear today is that He will protect you. In Psalm 91:2, it says, "I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." This means that when we put our trust in God, He will be our safe haven, our protection in the midst of danger and uncertainty.

As we go through life, we will undoubtedly face challenges and difficulties that can make us feel vulnerable and exposed. But when we remember God's promise of protection, we can take comfort in the fact that He is always with us, watching over us and keeping us safe. No matter what storms come our way, we can trust that God is our refuge and our fortress.

2. God's Promise of Rest - Matthew 11:28-30

The second promise God wants you to hear today is that He will give you rest. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Life can be exhausting, both physically and emotionally. We all have moments when we feel like we're carrying too much weight, when the burdens of our responsibilities and worries threaten to overwhelm us. But Jesus invites us to come to Him, to lay our burdens at His feet and find rest for our souls.

This promise is especially important in a culture that often values busyness and productivity above all else. God knows that we need rest, that we need times of stillness and quietness to recharge and renew our spirits. So today, let's take a moment to rest in God's presence, to let go of our worries and simply be still.

3. God's Promise to Answer Prayers - Matthew 7:7

The third promise God wants you to hear today is that He will answer your prayers. In Matthew 7:7, Jesus says, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Sometimes we may feel like our prayers go unanswered, that God is distant or uninterested in our needs. But Jesus promises that when we ask, seek, and knock, God will answer us. Of course, this doesn't mean that we'll always get exactly what we want or that our prayers will be answered on our timeline. But we can trust that God hears our prayers and is working all things together for our good.

It's important to remember that prayer isn't just about getting what we want. It's about building a relationship with God, about drawing closer to Him and aligning our hearts with His will. So even when we don't see immediate answers to our prayers, we can trust that God is working in our lives and in the world around us.

4. God's Promise of Forgiveness - 1 John 1:9

The fourth promise God wants you to hear today is that He will free you from your sins. In 1 John 1:9, it says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

We all make mistakes and struggle with sin, but the promise of God's forgiveness offers hope and redemption. When we acknowledge our sins and turn to God in repentance, He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This promise is a testament to the boundless mercy and grace of our Heavenly Father, providing a path to healing and restoration for our weary souls.

5. God's Promise to Provide for Our Needs - Philippians 4:19

The fifth promise God wants you to hear today is that He will take care of your needs. Philippians 4:19, says, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."

It's easy to worry about our needs, both physical and emotional. We may worry about our finances, our health, our relationships, or our future. But God promises to meet all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. This doesn't mean that we'll always have everything we want, or that we won't face challenges or difficulties. But it does mean that we can trust God to provide for us in His perfect timing and in His perfect way.

One of the key words in this promise is "all." God promises to meet all our needs, not just some of them. He knows what we need before we even ask, and He's already working behind the scenes to provide for us. So even when we feel like we're lacking in some area of our lives, we can trust that God is with us and will take care of us.
